It occurred to me, three days into relishing that I finally got this website up… that I had to know why, better yet, who this was all for.

My current recreational reading selection is “Rooted” by Banning Liebscher and its a challenging, convicting, spiritual literature for those questioning and seeking a deeper outpouring of God in their lives. It talked about good soils for God to deepen our roots in and this particular section that sparked my thinking was “serving”.

God wants you to be great. However, this is easily misconstrued with the call to serve. Matthew 20:26-28 says, “But ___ is not your calling. You will lead by a completely different model. The greatest one among you will live as the one who is called to serve others, because the greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one with the heart of a servant. For even the [Jesus] did not come expecting to be served by everyone, but to serve everyone, and to give his life in exchange for the salvation of many” (TPT)

I left the blank in verse 26 because I wanted to expand on the verse right before this section, verse 25, that talks about oppressive kings who dominate over “lesser” peoples — the standard of greatness that was normal then but is not our calling today. Domination. Oppression. Ego. The most followers. The most likes. The best body. The perfect family. The most money. The most vacation spots. Cars. Houses. Take your pick and fill in the blank. What this world would call “great” is not the greatness God set out for us.

However, Godly greatness is not diluting your talent or restraining your passion either. Get after it and check your heart.

So I set mine aligned with God’s. Like all creators I want this site to be great. But it will be great, by the standard of the greatest thing in the universe. It’s not for me at all. So, for the chance that my perspective, the random thoughts in my head, my professional studies, or my testimony of God’s work in my life could serve you somewhere in your journey, that is my indicator for success.
